Compass

Based at 235 Lakeshore Road in Oakville, I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy and a BA in Psychology. I have significant experience working with individuals, couples and families, and take pride in my ability to connect in a genuine way with a variety of clients, tailoring my approach in a way that best honours each client’s unique preferences, values, strengths and goals.

I can help you:

  • Find solutions for family, couple & workplace conflicts

  • Improve communication at home

  • Manage stress, anxiety, anger and moods

  • Cope with grief and loss

  • Resolve trauma and past hurts

  • Increase confidence and self-esteem

  • Improve sexual communication and sexual intimacy

  • Be the parent and family member you prefer to be

As a therapist, I take a person-centred approach, and believe that the therapeutic relationship is a sacred one, built on trust, respect, compassion, acceptance, validation and understanding. In my work, I am committed to demonstrating attentiveness to engaging clients’ internal resources and their potential to create positive changes in their lives. I take pride in my curiosity and skillfulness in hearing what has not yet been said. Through insight, self-awareness and the acquisition of tools geared towards coping with life’s challenges, I believe that the therapeutic process is invaluable in nurturing and supporting healing in clients’ lives and relationships.

I am trained in and comfortable working from a variety of evidence-based counselling models, including:

  • Emotionally-Focused therapy

  • Internal Family Systems

  • Narrative therapy

  • Solution-Focused

  • Cognitive-Behavioral therapy

My professional training and personal experiences allow me to offer a non-judgmental environment, sensitive and intuitive insight, and solid therapeutic skills that can help you move forward in your life.  I understand that the issues you may be bringing to therapy can be private, difficult to talk about, embarrassing, or painful. I have worked with people on many difficult issues and I aim to provide a safe space for clients to talk about their concerns.

In terms of my personal interests and hobbies, I have a strong creative side, and have worked as a musician/composer/producer for years. I greatly value travel, and spent time living in Amsterdam and Paris in my 20s.  I am a big-time hockey fanatic, and I love camping, swimming, and being in the woods. Spending time in nature is a big part of my personal self-care.

I am not perfect. I am human, I have problems, and I have gone through difficulty in my life. I make mistakes in my relationships and am constantly learning about myself and working at how I am in relationships.
